JP1/Asset
Information Manager from Hitachi Asia The Software Which
Will Address Your Compliancy Concerns With Minimum Cost
Singapore, 22nd February, 2005 –
Hitachi Asia Ltd. (Hitachi) has boosted its leading
System Management Solution (JP1) with an enhancement
to its Desktop Management module with JP1/Asset Information
Manager (AIM). It streamlines and centralizes the management
of information about hardware devices, software, and
their users across an enterprise in a regular format.
Hitachi’s JP1 System Management can be used across
a variety of operating systems and network topologies,
thereby facilitating and automating server and client
management for a wide range of modern network environments.
JP1/AIM seamlessly links to other JP1 products of its
existing users, and integrates asset information management
by acquiring information from linked product databases,
consolidating it and displaying it a central window.
In addition, system administration tasks are streamlined
by JP1’s ability to automate the delivery and
installation of software according to any predefined
schedule, manage software, hardware and user-defined
inventory information, log information on remote clients
to facilitate troubleshooting, as well as distribute
registry information to control Windows policies and
network settings. JP1 allows asset information to be
accessed remotely from a Web browser, and enables system
administrators and employees of related departments
to share information, as well as better understand,
collectively manage, and effectively deploy IT assets
within the company.
Mr Hideto Hoshino, General Manager of Hitachi Asia’s
Systems Management Solution Division, said, “The
principal benefit of Hitachi’s JP1/AIM is that
it solves the fundamental problem of efficient, across-the-board
management of IT assets in today’s diverse network
environments. As enterprises have begun to down-size
and adopt improved open platforms that use both Windows
and Unix servers, they may be vulnerable to security
risks and compliance issues. Therefore as enterprises
grow, so should their awareness of their IT assets.
JP1 provides an integrated solution to properly manage
and protect enterprise IT assets in increasingly complex
systems from a main control centre. Hitachi’s
JP1/AIM key enhancements feature the much needed software
license management and IT asset lifecycle management
in today’s world of high security risks and compliance
issues.”
Mr Hoshino added, “With a desire to innovate and
reinvent, coupled with a ‘Customer 1st philosophy’,
we strive to become No.1 in customer satisfaction in
Southeast Asia.”
Key features and benefits of Hitachi’s JP1/AIM
include:
- Automatic creation and management of asset
management listings: Facilitates adaptation
to different operations, and ensures that inventory
and asset management listings are up-to-date.
- Real-time updates on asset information:
Supports remote access and ensures that records and
information are always current.
- Browser monitoring of asset information:
Authorized users can access information as required,
with configurable user permission levels to protect
confidential content.
- Contract management: Contract
information, due dates and other details can be easily
tracked and updated. Management teams can more easily
monitor asset depreciation, effectively plan for IT
investments and evaluate cost-effectiveness.
- Greater efficiency in stock-taking:
As hardware assets grow, details and progress of all
stock-taking operations can be registered and updated
using a Web browser. Hardware rentals/leases and system
changes are therefore more efficiently managed.
- Avoidance of risk associated with license
management: Compares software installations
with the number of purchased licenses to identify
illegal copies and plan for future software investments.
Prevents license violations and ensures compliance
in software license usage.
- Enhanced error recovery, reduced response
time: Error histories are logged so that
devices prone to errors and/or the conditions that
are likely to cause errors are more easily identified,
thus accelerating the recovery process during error
recurrences.
- Efficient management of system security
measures: Enables easy confirmation of whether
anti-virus software and the latest security patches
have been deployed.
- Automatic e-mail notification reduces administration
load: Monitoring of asset information relevant
to specific asset applications is carried out on a
regular basis. For example, where leases are about
to expire, or the number of users allowed by a software
license has been exceeded, details are automatically
sent to the relevant administrator by e-mail.
