Hitachi Asia Launches Version 9
of JP1 Integrated System Management Suite

New solutions and capabilities deliver support for virtual environments, agentless and offline monitoring, faster job execution, and more.

SINGAPORE – November 9, 2009 – Hitachi Asia Ltd, a leading provider of solutions that enable enterprises to derive maximum business advantage from their IT systems, today launched Version 9 of its Hitachi Job Management Partner 1 (Hitachi JP1) suite of integrated system management solutions.

The new version incorporates new products and new capabilities in the three core areas of system management: Performance & Availability Management, Job Management and Desktop Management. These include support for virtual environments, agentless monitoring, multiplex control of job execution, centralised client power management and integrated management of mixed client environments.

“Modern enterprise computing environments are highly complex and need to be monitored and managed on a constant basis. This can be hard to do, especially when the environment includes virtual assets. Hitachi JP1 Version 9, with its comprehensive functionalities and high usability and operability, provides enterprises a complete view of their environment without exacting a heavy administrative burden. This allows enterprises to manage complex environments and optimise their assets with a high degree of efficiency,” said Mitsumasa Inagaki, General Manager, System Management Solution Division (JP1), Hitachi Asia Ltd.

Among the new products in the Hitachi JP1 suite are Hitachi JP1/Performance Management – Agent Option for Virtual Machine and Hitachi JP1/Performance Management – Remote Monitor. The former automatically acquires physical server and virtual machine configuration information from virtualisation software. This makes it possible to manage physical/virtual server configurations easily, thus reducing IT operation workloads for large virtual environments.

Hitachi JP1/Performance Management – Remote Monitor does away with the need for software agents when monitoring Windows and UNIX variant-based platforms, and Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server database servers. Platforms and database servers can be monitored individually, as a group or on a consolidated basis.

“In consolidated environments in which tasks are performed automatically, JP1 Version 9 can display the progress of each task on a real-time basis and predict when a task will finish. IT administrators can use this information to prioritise tasks and proactively configure business-critical assets such that they deliver maximum value,” said Mr. Inagaki.

In the job management area, new capabilities in Hitachi JP1 V9 include multiplex job execution control, enhanced support for large-scale systems, automation of repetitive tasks (daily reports, monthend close, etc.), better jobnet visibility, and on-the-fly jobnet development, change and release functions. Job-end times are also more predictable and high-priority jobs can be reassigned to servers with higher resource availability to ensure that they can be completed as scheduled.

The improvements to desktop management in Hitachi JP1 V9 are equally impressive. They include enhanced control of external USB memory devices, support for a wider variety of anti-virus products and client processor types, further supporting the growing enterprise priority of securing data and protecting information.

“Together, the new solutions and new capabilities in Hitachi JP1 Version 9 enable enterprises to derive the most value from their IT investments, raise business service levels and lower costs while easing the burden on the IT organisation. Besides removing the complexity inherent in large IT environments, Hitachi JP1 Version 9 also makes them safer, more compliant, more productive, more cost-effective and more environment-friendly,” said Mr. Inagaki.

Hitachi JP1 Version 9 is immediately available from Hitachi Asia Ltd., Value-Added Distributors and authorised resellers.
